Rooney Holdings promotes GlenNel Barlow to Chief Human Resources Officer

TULSA, OKLAHOMA – Rooney Holdings, Inc., a diversified privately-held international investment company, has promoted GlenNel Barlow to chief human resources officer. Barlow will be responsible for the Human Resources (HR) Services department, and its support of the company’s 1,700 employees. Prior to her promotion, Barlow served as director of human resources.

“GlenNel has been a vital part of the Rooney Holdings team for 18 years. During that time, she has served a key role in enhancing and developing human resources programs and initiatives across the firm. Barlow has 21-years of human resources experience in the industrial and construction industries. She holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credential, the highest level of certification offered by the HR Certification Institute, and a B.S. in business administration and minor in human resources from Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

Manhattan Road & Bridge Company elevates Ryan Haney and Tom Cramer as statewide operations leaders in Oklahoma and Arkansas

TULSA, OKLAHOMA – Manhattan Road and Bridge Company, the bridge and heavy infrastructure construction arm of Manhattan Construction Group, announces the promotion of Ryan Haney as vice president of Oklahoma operations, and Tom Cramer as vice president of Arkansas operations.

Haney and Cramer will assume responsibilities for statewide business operations for the company, which include business development, project management, field operations, strategic planning, and process implementation and enhancements.

Haney and Cramer succeed, Rich Horrocks and Mark Windle, who plan to retire before the end of the year. With 41 years of industry experience, Horrocks has served as Manhattan Road and Bridge’s vice president of Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas operations since 2009. Windle will retire with 45 years of industry experience, 17 of which have been at Manhattan. Windle most recently served as Manhattan Road and Bridge’s vice president of Arkansas operations.

With more than 20 years of experience working in numerous roles within the heavy highway and civil construction markets, he is well equipped to lead the Manhattan Road & Bridge team in Oklahoma.Tom CramerCramer has more than 24 years of experience in the heavy civil and highway construction sector. He joined Manhattan in 2018 and most recently served as the project lead for the company’s $87.3 million widening project on the west end of Interstate 630 in Little Rock, Arkansas, which expanded capacity from six to eight lanes.

Haney and Cramer will lead an experienced management team that has been cultivated during the past several years including Division Managers Matt Flusche (Oklahoma City), Todd Strande (Tulsa), Scott Martin (NW Arkansas) and Construction Managers Landry Logan (Oklahoma City), Tony Mounce (Tulsa), Johnny Bowen (Central Arkansas), Jason Teague (NW Arkansas) and James Land (Florida).

Alan Dunnam promoted to Operations Manager of Manhattan’s Houston Region

Alan DunnamHouston – Leading national construction services firm, Manhattan Construction Company has promoted Alan Dunnam to operations manager in Houston. In this role, Dunnam oversees construction quality, subcontractor management and safety program adherence to ensure building excellence for Manhattan’s clients.

With a 31-year career in construction, Dunnam led his first project at age 25. As a superintendent, he has constructed projects across ten different states. His broad building experience includes aviation, industrial/manufacturing, sports, healthcare, higher education, K-12, parking garage, and office tower projects.  Dunnam joined Manhattan as a senior superintendent in 2015.

“Alan is a consummate construction mentor, a collaborator, and holds a high bar for safety and quality work. We are honored to have him as part of our leadership team in Houston,” said Jason Fuller, Manhattan Construction Company vice president.

Dunnam attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Layle McKelvey joins Manhattan’s Houston office as Director of Community Relations and Inclusion

Houston – Manhattan Construction Company, a top nationally-ranked construction firm, has appointed Layle McKelvey as director of community relations and inclusion in Houston. McKelvey will foster key relationships within city, county, and state government, lead Manhattan’s diversity and inclusion efforts, and drive engagement with local partners to enrich Manhattan’s overall benefit to our clients and community. While based in Houston, McKelvey will be engaged in serving all of Manhattan’s market areas nationally.

“Layle’s strong ties to the Houston community and commitment to supplier diversity is a great asset to Manhattan and our trade partners across all of our markets,” said Jason Fuller, Manhattan Construction Company vice president, and Houston regional manager.

McKelvey has managed sourcing and supplier diversity at airport facilities in Houston, Cleveland, Denver, Los Angeles, Newark, and Washington, D.C. With her previous firm, she worked closely on diversity programming with Manhattan Construction project teams on the Houston IAH New Terminal C North and United Technical Operations Center (UTOC) projects. 

McKelvey graduated from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs and Communications.  She is a sought-after thought leader, speaker, and presenter on supplier diversity, business development, and supply chain logistics.  

Layle has worked tirelessly with many organizations serving on boards and other positions of leadership. She serves as a faculty consultant for the Houston-Galveston Women’s Business Center and has received numerous awards, including Top 50 Women by Houston Woman Magazine, Top 25 Professionals in Supplier Diversity, and Advocate of the Year by many minority and women organizations.  She is one of 50 women to serve as  “conversationalists” by the University of Houston’s Friends of Women’s Studies for their coveted 2020 Table Talk Luncheon in March 2020.

Melanie Jantschek joins Manhattan’s Tampa office as Director of Business Development

Jantschek will be responsible for overseeing new business acquisition and strategic account management for the Central Florida region.

“Melanie is a life-long member of the Tampa Bay community and brings a unique blend of technical expertise and community leadership,” said Mike Miller, Manhattan Construction Company operations manager. “She brings industry experience working for design and construction firms, personal and client relationships as well as market intelligence related to the core markets Manhattan serves.”

Jantschek has worked in the Florida design and construction industry, primarily in Tampa Bay, for 22 years. She is active in many industry and community organizations. Currently, she serves on the Florida Region Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Conference Planning Committee (2017 Planning/Programs Committee; 2018 Sponsorship Committee; 2019 Chair Sponsorship Committee), is a current member of CREW Tampa Bay Executive Council, a past Member of Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Tampa Bay, having served on the Board from 2005-2009. She has raised funds for Hillsborough Education Foundations “Tools for Schools”, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Paint Your Heart Out Clearwater, in addition to many other charitable organizations.

Jantschek attended the University of Florida College of Education majoring in elementary education after receiving an associates degree from St. Petersburg Jr. College, now St. Petersburg College. 

Trista Shomo named Oklahoma Magazine 40 Under 40 honoree

OKLAHOMA CITY – We are pleased to announce that Manhattan Construction Company Senior Safety Manager Trista Shomo has been recognized among Oklahoma Magazine’s 2020 Class of 40 Under 40.

Shomo, along with 39 others, were awarded for being influential young leaders that exemplify the best of what Oklahoma has to offer. Through a graceful balancing act of hard work, pioneering and volunteerism, these individual set precedents for aspiring leaders around the state.

Shomo is currently working on the Oklahoma State Capitol project. In 2019, she served as a judge for the Engineering News-Record Texas & Louisiana Best Projects competition’s safety category. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a degree in occupational safety and health in 2008.

Rob Cullison joins Manhattan’s Houston Region as Director of Business Development

Cullison will be responsible for overseeing new business acquisition and strategic account management for Manhattan’s Houston office, which opened in 1942.

“Rob’s 21 years of construction industry experience and personal relationships in our local core markets, combined with his integrity and strong values make him a perfect fit as a leader on Manhattan’s Houston team.” said Jason Fuller, Manhattan Construction Company’s Houston-area vice president.

Cullison, a native Houstonian, is invested in civic responsibility has served on various community boards and organizations, and is a Lifetime Member and active volunteer for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

Cullison is a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) through his affiliation with the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), and was honored by the Society in 2014 with their annual Marketing Excellence award. Cullison graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science.

Lucy Lambert-Novotny Named AGCOK 2019 Committee Member of the Year

Lucy Lambert-Novotny, DBIA™Oklahoma-based Manhattan Construction Company Project Manager Lucy Lambert-Novotny has received The Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma (AGCOK) 2019 “Committee Member of the Year” award.

Lambert-Novotny is currently the chairperson for the Workforce Development Committee at AGCOK. Under Lucy’s leadership, the Workforce Development Committee, in partnership with Junior Achievement, launched a job shadow program that introduces middle and high school students to the commercial construction industry. She received the “Committee Member of the Year” honor for creating the program template that includes bringing students to a job site, providing students with an overview of the industry, a panel discussion from the project foreman and a tour of the job site.

“Lucy’s efforts in creating this program have been a huge success and have helped young students become aware of the different careers in the industry and to consider it as a viable path for a future profession,” said Craig Abbott, Manhattan Construction Company vice president.

Adam Stogner named AGC of Oklahoma “Project Manager of the Year”

Adam StognerTulsa – The Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma (AGCOK) has named Manhattan Construction Company Senior Project Manager Adam Stogner “Project Manager of the Year.” Stogner received the honor at AGCOK’s Awards Banquet held Saturday, January 11, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The “Project Manager of the Year” award recognizes the project manager from among the AGC of Oklahoma membership who has shown superior skill and creativity in bringing complex projects to completion. Stogner was chosen for his exemplary commitment to his projects and leadership abilities, both on and off the jobsite.
