What an experience it has been for everyone at Manhattan Construction Company to build the new awe-inspiring home of the Texas Rangers – Globe Life Field!

With Texas Rangers holding the soft Opening of their new ballpark without fans today, we are thrilled to share the online version of TEAMWORK magazine. The stories in this publication provide a window into the behind-the-scenes feats of collaboration that show how important our partners were in building this tremendous structure. The magazine was originally scheduled to be published on Opening Day in March 2020, which was canceled due to COVID-19 public gathering concerns.

Manhattan is honored to be the construction manager for this new 1.8 million-square-foot retractable roof MLB ballpark, but we didn’t build it alone. Building is a team sport, and we wish to recognize our trade partners and the more than 10,000 workers who put in more than 6-million work hours to build this extraordinary ballpark. It has been our privilege to work with some of the most skilled and dedicated craftspeople in the industry.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ray Davis and Neil Leibman, and the entire Texas Rangers organization, and to Mayor Jeff Williams, and the City of Arlington, for the opportunity to serve fans and the Arlington community. As a fifth-generation Rooney family-owned company, our Manhattan team was delighted to build The Rangers’ original ballpark in Arlington and serve this community again 24 years later to build Globe Life Field.

Our experience with The Rangers team has been nothing short of exemplary. The Rangers’ Rob Matwick, John Blake, Chuck Morgan, Mike Healy, and Jack Hill have been supportive team members, and we couldn’t have accomplished what we did without their constant engagement for the past three years.

Thank you to the design professionals for their collaboration during construction. HKS, Inc., Walter P Moore, ME Engineers, WJHW, SWA, MMA, VAI, and all of the consultants played a significant role in the successful completion of Globe Life Field.

We sincerely appreciate ACARI Management Group, Inc., for their dedication and support with community outreach, which helped the project achieve its MWBE participation goal.

At Manhattan, we care deeply about the long-term success of our clients, our communities, the structures we build, and the people who build them. We dedicate this TEAMWORK publication in honor of all who were part of bringing this prestigious ballpark to life.

We are thrilled that the team gets to play in the new ballpark and look forward to seeing fans enjoy it someday soon too. Go Rangers!

With gratitude,

ARLINGTON, TX – On Thursday, July 26, Manhattan Construction Company, along with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), signed a partnership to help protect approximately 1,000 workers during construction of Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The 1.7 million-square-foot project will be the new home of the Texas Rangers, Major League Baseball organization.

The unique partnership will focus on reducing and preventing exposure to hazards in the construction industry, as well as promote open lines of communication between contractors and subcontractors to improve safety and health management systems and to provide for a comprehensive mentorship and training program that would benefit all contractors working on the job site. Through its Strategic Partnership Program, OSHA works with employers, employees, professional and trade associations, labor organizations, and other interested stakeholders to establish specific goals, strategies, and performance measures to improve worker safety and health.

“Putting proactive safety measures in place is crucial for highly-successful safety programs and achieving zero incidents,” said Manhattan Construction Company Vice President of Operations Jim Cuddihee. “Our partnership with OSHA will help us achieve that goal by providing advanced evaluation and hazard prevention reviews to ensure the health and well-being of every worker on our site.”

Tulsa-based Manhattan Construction Company is construction manager for the Globe Life Field project, which is a ground-up construction of a new baseball park, multi-purpose entertainment, and sports facility for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club and the City of Arlington. The new 40,000-seat, retractable-roof stadium is planned to be completed by the March 2020 opening day.

Globe Life Field is the fifth project in which Manhattan Construction Company has participated in a partnership with OSHA.

Thursday, June 21st, 2018

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The first structural steel column was installed at the new Globe Life Field project Friday, June 15. The occasion marks the start of vertical construction on the future new home of the Texas Rangers Baseball Club.

Officials from the Texas Rangers and Manhattan Construction Company joined with several Texas Rangers players at the event. In all, approximately 35,000 tons of steel (16,000 in the seating bowl; 19,000 for the roof) will be used in the construction of Globe Life Field.

The official groundbreaking for Globe Life Field took place on September 28, 2017, with construction beginning the following week. The new 1.7 million square foot ballpark, located on 13 acres just south of the current Globe Life Park in Arlington, will include a retractable roof for climate control and shelter for fans during the hot summer months. Seating capacity is approximately 40,000 for Globe Life Field, which will open in March 2020. HKS is the design architect for the project, and Manhattan Construction Company is the Construction Manager.
