University of Oklahoma, Zarrow Hall, School of Social Work

Norman, Oklahoma

Manhattan Construction completed the 25,000-square-foot University of Oklahoma (OU) Zarrow School of Social Work building, located on the University’s main campus, three months ahead of schedule. Manhattan expedited the purchase of the structural steel to make early construction of the structure possible during the summer months when traffic is minimal. Prior to the start of construction, Manhattan provided extensive pre-construction services, including the development of green building projections accounting for inflation of energy cost. This gave OU valuable information regarding cost of materials vs. operation over time. Manhattan’s pre-construction services and construction methods generated approximately $100,000 in savings for OU from the original price and ultimately delivered the University more value for their project dollar. The project design is traditional Cherokee Gothic style architecture, the style of surrounding campus structures, and is the new home for the oldest social sciences program in the state. We are proud to have worked with the University of Oklahoma, Architectural & Engineering Services, and the design professionals at Bockus-Payne Associate Architects on this historic endeavor. Manhattan earned the 2012 Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma, Build Oklahoma Award in the $5-$10 million category for work on this project.
