Monday, February 6th, 2012

HOUSTON, Texas – On Tuesday, January 24th, the Manhattan Construction BBVA Compass Stadium project team hosted high school students from the Houston area ACE Mentor Program.  Several Manhattan employees are serving as mentors in the ACE Program this year to provide mentoring to 20 high school students from the Houston area.  The program involves mentoring and teaching high school students who are interested in careers in architecture, construction or engineering.  The mentors and students meet once a week from October through April to learn about the building industry. Students complete a design project for presentation to their peers and members of the architecture, construction and engineering community at the conclusion of the program.

The ACE Mentor Program is a national organization whose mission is to “engage, excite and enlighten high school students to pursue careers in architecture, engineering and construction through mentoring and to support their continued achievement in the industry.”  The program awards college scholarships and internships with sponsoring mentor companies for student who distinguish themselves throughout the program.
